We believe in activating citizens to find holistic solutions to climate change through climate change education. The Climate Action Academy is a virtual training program on climate change and green solutions for K-12 and informal educators. The aim is to prepare you to teach climate change through an interdisciplinary and solutions-oriented perspective, not limited to math and science, but also geography, civic education, arts, history, language, and other subject areas.
The training includes 4 learning modules:
- Module 1: Understanding the Climate Crisis
- Module 2: Trends in Climate Education
- Module 3: Tools and Activities for Climate Action
- Module 4: Climate Action Teaching Integration
You will be guided to develop a climate curriculum for your educational space, join an international network of sustainability-minded teachers, and get 10 hours of certified professional development.
We, at 2811, offer this certification with the support of Climate-KIC, the European Union's climate action knowledge and innovation community (KIC). The program is positioned internationally, with presence in over 12 countries in Europe and Latin America.
The Academy’s first cohorts of 2021 had a notable impact on educators’ confidence with regards to engaging their students in curricula and school projects for climate action:
